Air Abrasion(AA) is a machine that mixes sand (aluminum oxide) and high pressure air to remove the decayed parts of the teeth. It becomes a dental experience that can be like a day at the beach.
This is done without the Drill and the needle. The doctor can do very little damage to your teeth with this system. It is extremely precise in its decay removal. When the doctor feels like all the decay is removed, he will then use a Caries Detection stain; which allow him to be sure that all the decayed tooth structure has been removed.
The best part, is that the hole that has been created due to decay, will be filled with a tooth colored filling. This technology is available to all dentist; however a very small percentage of the dental profession offers this procedure to their patients.
